Today we’re talking about a three-year-old child named Ryker, who supposedly ran away from playing for no reason and was found two days later completely unharmed. But there are some inconsistencies in this case. No one knows how he could have survived in the wilderness completely unscathed. It was freezing cold, violent thunderstorms and gales swept across the area, and he showed no signs of hypothermia. It’s also unclear how he could have walked six kilometers on his own. Furthermore, he was suddenly wearing different clothes, and many are certain that the facial features don’t match Ryker Webb’s and that another person, or even another being, has taken his place. We’ll now look at everything I’ve been able to find out about this, and why some things about his story, and also about his parents, don’t add up.
This case has captivated me more than any other missing person case in a long time, mainly because almost everything about this story is somehow strange. Let’s start from the beginning. It all happened last year in Montana, USA. Little three-year-old Ryker was outside playing with the dog, and his father was inside watching him.
Father: “It was important to be careful.”
The father then looked around the house for a minute to get something, and when he returned, Ryker and his dog were gone. Now we come to the first strange thing in this case, because, according to his own statement, the father searched for Ryker alone for a full two hours before calling the police. To many, this sounds illogical, because we’re talking about a three-year-old child. Firstly, it’s strange that he had already wandered so far after just one minute that the father couldn’t find him, and secondly, it’s even stranger that he waited two hours before calling emergency services.
Police were immediately on the scene, along with rescue services, volunteers, and even helicopters and drones. A large-scale search was launched, and police issued a “Code Red” alert. This meant that everyone in the area should search their properties and surrounding areas for Ryker. The reason was simple: temperatures dropped below freezing overnight, and there was a thunderstorm and a strong wind. For a three-year-old alone in the woods, that’s not exactly the best survival situation.
Two days passed without any trace of Ryker until a couple about six kilometers from where he disappeared heard a whimpering sound coming from their shed. They found the frightened and confused little Ryker and, of course, immediately contacted the police. The police promptly alerted the emergency services and Ryker’s family, and Ryker received a medical examination.
And now for the next strange thing: He was perfectly healthy, although a little dehydrated. But his body temperature was normal, which makes no sense in the cold weather. Another thing that stood out: His nose was bleeding. I couldn’t figure out how that happened; there’s absolutely no logical explanation.
But even stranger is his clothing. We recall his father’s statement: He was outside playing with his son. Normally, playing outside in pajamas and without shoes is extremely odd in this context. Some news articles reported that it was completely different clothing and that the parents didn’t even recognize the pajamas. That would be extremely unsettling, because who would have changed him, and where did the correct clothing size come from? Other news outlets, however, report that the father himself couldn’t remember exactly what his son was wearing. Regardless of the truth, both scenarios are rather strange and unsettling.
It’s also strange that Ryker looks completely different when you look at his face shape, eyes, and nose. Many people see clear differences, and yes, he looks different to me too. It’s extremely difficult for outsiders to judge. You can clearly see in the photo that he’s in a state of shock, because who knows what he actually experienced alone out in the woods. That’s incredibly frightening, just considering the backstory. And I don’t know exactly how old the comparison photo is, and as we know, children change quite quickly anyway. Still, it’s creepy.
And it’s also strange that the parents had a DNA test done when Ryker was found. Can someone please explain to me how parents come up with the idea of having a DNA test done? This means that the parents themselves had to make the decision because they noticed that their child looked somehow different and had changed. I’m not sure if this information is 100% true, but some news articles report on such a DNA test.
It was also strange that some news sites reported him as four years old, while others said he was three. This discrepancy likely arose from the father’s statement. He had initially reported him missing as a three-year-old. But when he was found, the following happened:
Father: “Oh yes, by the way, my son is actually already four years old.”
Mother: “Yes, he is four.”
How could the father not know his child’s age? That makes it clear something is seriously wrong with this whole thing. Considering these strange circumstances, the story just doesn’t end there. According to the police, the only logical explanation is that Ryker managed to reach the shed in two hours. So, as a three- or four-year-old, he would have had to cover about six kilometers in two hours to find shelter there from the storms and thunderstorms. That’s supposedly why he wasn’t suffering from hypothermia.
But he was still only wearing pajamas, and it was a simple, old, leaky shed. I can’t imagine he wasn’t freezing, even if it was dry in there and protected him from the wind. He was wearing very thin pajamas, and like I said, that shed had no insulation. It must have been freezing in there. The sheriff said Ryker didn’t talk much.
Sheriff: “Why did you run away in the first place?”
Ryker: “I don’t remember why I set off. But I definitely went alone and only found this cabin by chance.”
In a TikTok video of the mother, in which she talks to her son and asks him about his odyssey, he suddenly says the following:
Mother: “What happened?”
Ryker: “There was a man. The man was also by the shed.”
Mother: “Do you know who this man was?”
Why did he tell the police something different then? Because this statement opens up entirely new possibilities. Previously, it was said that he had either run away for no reason because he had seen something, or that the dog might have run away and he just wanted to bring it back – both explanations that seemed logical. Incidentally, the dog is no longer mentioned in any news articles today; it has simply vanished without a trace.
And then I thought: Wait a minute, what if he really was lured into the woods by a stranger, and this man then brought the child to this cabin? That would suddenly make the different clothes make sense. What if this stranger changed his clothes, and who knows what else he did? My next thought was: I absolutely have to find the mother’s TikTok channel because I was hoping to find further and new clues there. All I could find about this statement regarding the man were some re-uploads of the clip.
Finally, I found a clip with a watermark, so now I knew the mother’s account name. Okay, now I was really curious. Let’s see what’s on the mother’s account and if there’s any more information about the case. Okay, her account has been completely deleted! How strange is that? I can’t even watch the original video, and I can’t watch any other videos either, because the account has been completely deleted.
There are also a few paranormal explanations in this case that I’d like to briefly address. Some suggest that Ryker could be a changeling. A changeling originates from European superstition, which assumes that a kind of demon or evil spirit can replace a child. It looks identical, but it’s something different, something evil, something non-human. That would also somehow explain the story with the man. What if this man was actually a demon? Then it would be somewhat illogical for the replaced child to talk about it. But why did the mother delete the video and even the entire channel?
The second paranormal explanation was the classic skinwalker. Skinwalkers are supposed to be mythical creatures that can assume the form of a person they’ve abducted. That would make sense if he looked slightly different, and in that case, the man could have been the skinwalker. All these explanations sound extremely absurd and creepy when you think about it. Do you believe something truly supernatural happened? Was the child really switched with a changeling or a skinwalker? Or do you think it was simply a stranger, a real person? That story would be just as creepy, if not more so.
Do you personally believe that Ryker suddenly looks different, or does the shock just make him look strange? But then how do you explain all the odd inconsistencies with the family? His age was forgotten, he was wearing different clothes, and then there was that strange DNA test. And why did they wait two hours before calling for help? Or do you also think the little boy really just chased the dog, sought refuge until he was found, and it’s just a normal story with a happy ending?
But how can the story with the man be explained? And how can the lack of hypothermia be explained? And how can the strange clothing be explained in this case? This case is truly an extremely big mystery to me.
