Mother Of 10 Breaks Down Once Doctors Deliver The Most Unsuspecting News
For Scottish mom, Alexis Brett, the whole giving birth thing became a repetitive routine after giving birth to her 10th and record-breaking child. When she found she was pregnant with her 11th, however, doctors delivered news that was sure to shake up her life. Inverness, Scotland residents Alexis and David Brett put family at the tippy top of their hierarchy of morals.
The couple shares a life that flourishes with children and that’s just how they like it. Their version of a happy little family nevertheless differs from the norm. While David had a fruitful job as a train driver, Alexis took some time off from work to focus on mothering their wild pack of children because the Scottish duo have like a lot of kids.
See, Alexis gave birth to 10 boys in a row and she was the first mom in Britain to do so. She had her youngest boy uniquely named Rothagade in 2017. Back then, she thought her family was a perfect complete unit. But by the time Alexis was 39, she was pregnant with her 11th child. She was just one pregnancy away from living a real-life version of Cheaper by the Dozen.
With a herd of mangy offspring that’s fully loaded with testosterone, Alexis dreamed of bringing a baby girl into the world. Perhaps it just wasn’t in the cards for the Brett family. But now the sweet little bun in the oven offered hope for Alexis to have a princess among her 10 princes and king.
Well, in the summer of 2019, the Bretts finally welcomed their 11th baby into the family. The couple was gobsmacked to first find that they were having a girl as Alexis just figured she was carrying around yet another macho man in her uterus. “We are absolutely in love with her. The whole family is beside it,” the beaming Alexis relayed. Lo and behold, Alexis Brett gave birth to her first girl.
The gleeful and quite fertile Scots named their fresh little bundle of joy, Cameron. Believe it or not, Alexis has spent over eight years being pregnant within the last 18 years of her life. Though they’re as happy as a lark, you can only imagine the stress and work that comes along with raising 11 kids.
Alexis does a whopping 49 loads of laundry a week and vacuums seven times a day. Alexis and her hubby David, who suffers from early-onset Parkinson’s disease, have to embark on two hefty food shopping trips a week in order to supply their jumbo family with enough goodies. Things get pricey when you’re buying food for two adults, one baby girl, and 10 growing boys who are likely constantly opening the fridge.
Because life is obviously costly for the Bretts, people make all kinds of negative assumptions about their financial situation. “Some people think we must be on benefits, but we’re not. David has a good job, which means we don’t even qualify for full child benefit,” Alexis said, clearly defending her family’s honor.
You know what happens when people assume. To help pitch in financially, Alexis planned to soon go back to work as a part-time fitness instructor. Though not easy, it seems as though Alexis is handling extreme motherhood fairly well. She’s even got a stellar morning routine down, sort of. When David leaves for work at 5:30 a.m. every morning, Alexis has a few quiet moments to enjoy a necessary cup of coffee, taking a calming shower, and apply her makeup. That is until the herd awakens and sheer chaos ensues. Being a stay-at-home mom is never easy, but considering some of Alexis’s boys are nearing adulthood, they help her out when they can.
“Whenever we have brought a new baby home, the family is thrilled and want to help, but this time the boys have been even more excited,” Alexis said. Because the Bretts’ lifestyle is overwhelming, to say the least, Alexis admitted she and David occasionally exchange anxious looks that translate to “What have we done?” But those subtle pangs of doubt vanish the second they see their angels’ faces.
Since Alexis broke a British record when she birthed 10 boys consecutively, the public has also been quite fascinated with the Bretts’ angels’ faces. The family has been on television multiple times, which includes their guest appearance on ITV’s This Morning. Parenting 11 children is an insomnia-ridden journey like no other, and Alexis and David Brett wouldn’t trade their busy, hectic life for the world. They are modern-day superheroes.
Superheroes who definitely need sleep. Thankfully, the Brett family has their unconventional life under control, as their household is stuffed with oodles of love and care. They’ve managed to keep things manageable by spacing out Alexis’ pregnancies over many years. She was grateful to never have to deal with too many babies at once.
